CM Bugti vows strict action against culprits

A shocking video of a couple being shot dead in an ‘honour’ killing in Balochistan has sparked widespread outrage.
The video, which surfaced on social media over the weekend, shows the couple being brutally murdered by unidentified individuals.
Initial investigations by police suggest that the incident took place several days before Eidul Adha though it only recently came to public attention following the video’s circulation online.
Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti took notice of the incident after the video went viral, terming the murder “a blatant insult to social values and human dignity.”
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), CM Bugti said that a case has been registered under anti-terrorism laws on the state’s complaint, and one suspect allegedly involved in the woman’s murder has been taken into custody. A search operation is underway to arrest the remaining accused.
“The police have been directed to take immediate action against this heinous crime,” the chief minister wrote, adding that the law will take its course and the culprits will be punished with “full severity.”
Balochistan government spokesperson Shahid Rind said the chief minister has instructed law enforcement agencies to identify the exact location of the incident and ensure all individuals involved are brought to justice.
The CM expressed deep sorrow over the killings and warned that such acts of brutality will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
“Those who challenge the writ of the state will be dealt with strictly. No one has the right to take the law into their own hands,” he said.
The slain couple had reportedly entered into a love marriage, which allegedly led to their killing in the name of honours.
