iPhone 17 series is expected to be officially announced by mid-September 2025

As anticipation builds for Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 series, a new leak has surfaced detailing the expected colour options for two models—while the company’s broader 2026 product strategy hints at major releases, including a budget iPhone and refreshed iPads and Macs.
According to a leak posted by the reputable source, images of camera lens protector rings, which are usually colour-matched to the device casing, have offered the first glimpse into what the colour options for the iPhone 17 and the iPhone 17 Air will look like.
iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Air colours revealed
If the leaked components are accurate, the iPhone 17 will be available in the following colours:
- Black
- Blue
- Green
- Purple
- Silver
Meanwhile, the iPhone 17 Air—a lighter variant expected to be priced below the Pro models—will reportedly come in:
- Black
- Light Blue
- Light Gold
- Silver
The leak, which surfaced on Naver and aligns with earlier reports from another known leaker Majin Bu, does not include information about the iPhone 17 Pro or Pro Max colour options.

A peculiar “transparent” ring was also seen in the leak, but yeux1122 did not list it among the official colours, suggesting it may not represent a new transparent iPhone.

As is customary, Apple has yet to confirm the details of its colour lineup. However, colours are typically one of the final aspects of iPhone design to leak before launch, which is expected within the next two months.
2026 roadmap: budget iPhone, new iPads, Macs incoming
In a separate development, reports indicate that Apple is preparing a wide-ranging product release plan for early 2026. Among the most notable is a new lower-cost iPhone model, dubbed the iPhone 17e. This variant will reportedly resemble the current iPhone 16 in design but will be powered by Apple’s next-generation A19 chip, codenamed V159.
The iPhone 17e is positioned as a follow-up to this year’s $599 model and is aimed at strengthening Apple’s hold on the mid-range market amid softening global demand.

The tech giant is also preparing refreshed models of its iPad Air and iPad Pro, which are expected to feature Apple’s upcoming M5 chip. These are likely to launch around March or April 2026, alongside updated versions of entry-level iPads, codenamed J581 and J582.
On the computing front, Apple is reportedly working on new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models (codenamed J714 and J716) as well as new MacBook Airs, all expected to debut with the M5 chip in 2026. This could be the last update before a significant design overhaul, including the introduction of OLED displays and revised chassis.
An external Mac monitor is also said to be in the works as part of Apple’s broader plan to stabilise revenues, which have been under pressure following post-pandemic slowdowns and delays in product rollouts.
In the meantime: Apple product discounts
While new launches remain months away, Apple has slashed prices on several current products in what industry observers see as inventory-clearing ahead of the iPhone 17 release:
- AirPods Pro 2 – Now $149 (was $249)
- AirPods 4 – Now $89 (was $129)
- Apple Watch Series 10 – Now $279 (was $399)
- iPad mini with A17 Pro – Now $379 (was $499)
- M4 MacBook Air – Now $849 (was $999)
Analysts believe the company is entering a critical period as it tries to manage transitions across product lines while facing fierce competition in both the smartphone and PC markets.
The iPhone 17 series is expected to be officially announced by mid-September 2025, with pre-orders likely opening shortly after.
