Authorities recover bodies from debris

A Jaguar training aircraft of the Indian Air Force (IAF) crashed during a routine operational flight in Rajasthan’s Churu district on Wednesday resulting in the deaths of both pilots onboard, the IAF confirmed.

According to an official statement, the two-seater fighter jet went down near Bhanuda village, with debris scattered across nearby fields. The aircraft was on a scheduled training sortie when it crashed under yet unknown circumstances.

“Both pilots sustained fatal injuries,” the IAF said, adding that immediate rescue and recovery operations were initiated after the incident.

A court of inquiry has been constituted to ascertain the exact cause of the crash.

The wreckage has been secured by IAF and police teams who reached the location shortly after receiving alerts from the area.
