Summary sent to federal cabinet: sources

The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication has submitted a summary to the federal cabinet, requesting a review of the decision to devalue the National Information Technology Board (NITB), sources said.
The federal cabinet had decided to dissolve the NITB in August 2024. However, despite the passage of ten months, the Ministry of IT has not implemented the decision.
The ministry is now actively pursuing the reversal of the move to dissolve the NITB.
According to sources, after consultations with the Ministry of Law, the Ministry of IT has submitted a summary recommending that the NITB be retained as an institution.
The ministry maintains that the continued existence of the NITB is essential for the implementation of ongoing projects, including the e-Office initiative.
Sources also indicated that certain international agreements require the NITB to function as a separate entity.
Efforts are being made to have the summary approved in the next meeting of the federal cabinet, sources added.
