Setback for India: SCO joint declaration mentions Balochistan, omits Pahalgam

SCO joint declaration accuses India of indirectly fueling unrest in Balochistan

A significant development unfolded during the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Defence Ministers’ meeting in China, where the SCO’s joint declaration accused India of indirectly promoting instability in Balochistan.

Following the inclusion of this accusation, Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh refused to sign the joint declaration, marking a diplomatic setback for New Delhi on another international platform.

The joint statement, however, made no mention of the recent Pahalgam incident in India, which had been a point of concern for the Indian side.

Observers see this as another strategic loss for India on the global stage, as the country faces increasing criticism over its alleged involvement in destabilizing activities in the region.
