Maryam Nawaz offers 4,870 cattle to widowed, divorced women

Govt to provide buffaloes and cows worth Rs2bn to 11,000 women across 12 districts

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced a major livestock distribution initiative targeting widowed and divorced women across southern Punjab in a groundbreaking step to empower rural women and bridge the economic gap between cities and villages.

Under this historic program, the Punjab government will provide buffaloes and cows worth Rs2 billion to 11,000 deserving women across 12 districts in southern Punjab. The scheme is specifically designed to support widows and divorced women up to the age of 55, enabling them to apply conveniently from their homes through a mobile application.

In the first phase, a total of 4,870 cattle will be distributed free of cost in districts, including Dera Ghazi Khan, Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur, Layyah, and Kot Addu. The initiative also covers Multan, Khanewal, Lodhran, Vehari, Rahim Yar Khan, and Bahawalpur.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz emphasized the importance of economic justice and equal opportunity, stating, “Our resolve is to eliminate the poverty gap between villages and cities. A daughter living in villages also has the right to economic development.”

She reiterated her government’s commitment to education, health, and employment as fundamental rights for women, regardless of whether they live in urban or rural areas.
