11 killed, 25 injured in storm-related accidents across Punjab

PDMA urges people to avoid unnecessary travel amid adverse weather conditions

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) reported on Friday that 11 individuals lost their lives and 35 sustained injuries in various incidents caused by heavy rain across Punjab.

According to the PDMA, the PDMA has released a report detailing storm-related accidents across Punjab from June 25 to 27. Most fatalities occurred due to collapsing roofs and walls.

Eight cases were recorded in Lahore, where the collapse of a roof resulted in the deaths of three individuals. In Okara, one child died and two others were injured following a similar incident.

In Mandi Bahauddin, two children died due to electrocution, while one person sustained injuries after a roof collapsed. In Jhang, two people drowned in a seasonal stream.

A man and a woman were killed in Sahiwal after the roof of their house collapsed. A similar incident in Kasur claimed the life of a child. Another child died in Bahawalpur due to a roof collapse.

In Rahim Yar Khan, a falling tree killed livestock and left one person injured. In Multan, two men, five women, and one child were injured when a roof collapsed. In Jhelum, two individuals fell into a stream and died.

A man in Khanewal died after being struck by lightning. In Chiniot, four people were injured when a roof collapsed.
