Karachi likely to experience rainfall between June 25 and July 2 as monsoon system enters Pakistan

The Met Department has forecast pre-monsoon rains in several regions of the country from June 20 to 23, warning of strong winds, hailstorms, and potential weather-related hazards during the period.
According to the Met Office, intermittent rain is expected in upper and central parts of the country, including Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Murree, Galiyat, and Islamabad. Showers are also likely in Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Sargodha, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, and Sialkot.
Rainfall is also expected in Narowal, Faisalabad, Jhang, Haripur, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Chitral, Dir, Swat, and Malakand, as well as in various parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Peshawar, Mardan, and Swabi.
In Balochistan, showers are likely in Zhob, Barkhan, Musakhel, and Kalat, while Sindh’s northern areas, including Sukkur, Larkana, Dadu, and Jacobabad, may receive rain accompanied by gusty winds between June 22 and 24.
The department has also warned of strong winds and hailstorms during the rainy spell, posing risks of falling trees, solar panels, and collapsing of weak structures. Citizens have been urged to take precautionary measures, especially in urban areas.
A day ago, the Meteorological Department predicted the start of the pre-monsoon season from June 22, with rainfall expected to be 25% higher than usual across the country.

Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab Director General Irfan Ali Kathia stated that arrangements have been completed to deal with possible flood situations, especially in urban centres and low-lying areas. “We are fully prepared to respond to any emergencies that may arise during the monsoon,” he said.
According to the PDMA, certain cities, including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Multan, Gujranwala, and Sialkot, may experience up to 60% more rainfall than the seasonal average, raising concerns over urban flooding and waterlogging.
Karachi weather update
The weather in Karachi remained pleasant on Thursday, with the sea breeze restored and partly cloudy skies. The temperature in the city was recorded at 32 degrees Celsius, with 64% humidity, creating a relatively comfortable environment.
According to the forecast, Karachi is likely to experience rainfall between June 25 and July 2 as the monsoon system enters Pakistan from June 25. During this period, the maximum temperature in the city is expected to hover around 32°C.
Temperature report
The highest temperatures on Thursday were recorded in Sibi and Bahawalpur at 42°C, followed by DI Khan, Sargodha, Multan, and Faisalabad at 39°C. Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and Peshawar recorded temperatures of 38°C, while Sialkot and Quetta stood at 36°C. Muzaffarabad and Gilgit registered 35°C, and Karachi remained cooler at 33°C.
