China’s Engine AI unveils world’s first front-flipping robot.

On 24 February 2025 Shenzhen-based EngineAI made history by demonstrating first humanoid robot in history that could perform a front flip a ground breaking feat in robotic agility and mobility. Robot’s ability to stay stable in midair and land smoothly was demonstrated in Shenzhen marking a major breakthrough in embodied intelligence. This achievement, which is more difficult than backflips because of the lack of visual contact with the ground during rotation, was accomplished by EngineAI’s engineering team using exact calculations of dynamic balance and instantaneous acceleration.

The robot in question, PM01, is a member of EngineAI’s broad range of products, which also includes the SA01 research/education and SE01 (industrial application). With its 24 degrees of freedom, 40 kg weight, and 1.38 m height PM01 may move dynamically at up to 2 m/s. While sophisticated algorithms like deep reinforcement learning and imitation learning mimic human motion patterns its 320-degree rotating waist enables hybrid mechanical/humanoid gaits. Success of front flip highlights EngineAI’s emphasis on fusing cutting-edge AI solutions including end to end neural networks for efficient decision making with durable hardware like aerospace grade metals and high torque joints.

China’s humanoid robotics industry is changing as a result of EngineAI’s advancements; it is expected to reach CNY 75 billion $10.2 billion by 2029 up from CNY 2.76 billion $375 million in 2024. PM01 is positioned for commercial and educational application due to its competitive pricing ($13,700) and open-source platform which democratize access to advanced robotics. SA01 a lightweight model with a research focus and the SE01 built for industrial duties like heavy lifting and precise assembly considerably broaden EngineAI’s product line. Company is leading the global robotics race thanks to its quick R&D pace it launched three robots in six months and alliances with investors like SenseTime Guoxiang Capital.
EngineAI’s front flipping PM01 is a prime example of its dedication to developing Artificial General Intelligence AGI even in the face of competition from rivals such as Unitree Robotics. Robot’s ability to adjust to complex scenarios and assess AI models through real-world applications positions it as a fundamental tool for future developments. EngineAI’s potential to successfully impact the AGI era in the long run will depend on how well it strikes a balance between open source flexibility, affordability and dynamic performance as the market evolves.

In summary
EngineAI’s front-flipping robot which combines sophisticated algorithms with sturdy hardware to accomplish previously unheard-of agility represents a paradigm change in humanoid robotics. The company is well-positioned to spearhead China’s push in the global robotics race spearheading innovations that have the potential to revolutionize human-robot interaction across industries thanks to its diverse product line and emphasis on affordable open-source innovation.
